"When the Phone Rings"

I worked on a pastel painting for several hours. Finally, it was finished. I was satisfied. The model took a short break and then began the same pose again. Tired, I was tempted to call it a day but I put another sheet on my easel.  

I heard the timer ring signifying the end of the pose.  How long had I been drawing--ten minutes, twenty minutes.  I had no idea. (See below: "Jessica Reclining # 2).

When is a painting or drawing finished?  Robert D'Arista answered the question.  "When the phone rings".
